Zooomr 2.0

ZooomrThis Friday, July 14th, Zooomr will launch version 2.0 with a party at Valley Schwag in San Francisco.

After Flickr’s recent update it will be interesting to see what Zooomr has in store. A couple of things that currently separate Zooomr from Flicker, in my opinion, are LightBox, Zooomrtations and GeoTagging.

LightBox allows you view a single photo in a framed black & white light box without any other distractions. (You have to see it to get it)

Zooomrtations are audio files that can be tagged to photos. Think what that would add to this photo.

GeoTagging using the Google Maps API to show the location of where the photo was taken, plus Zooomr will show other photos that have been shot in the vicinity. (My favorite Zooomr feature.)

If you’re interested, Zooomr is giving away free PRO accounts (at least they were on Friday). Create an account, upload a photo, blog about it and post a link here.

Learn more about Zoomr here, here and at their blog.

I wish I could make it to the party, but a Cessna 152 will only cruise at around 100 kts and its over 2000 nm to SFO. With having to stop for fuel every 3 hours I would have to leave today with any hope of making cross-county by Friday.

I just hope someone brings a camera and takes a pic or two.
